It all started with a tweet...
My guy Bob Quillman tweeted out about a fantasy "side tourny" featuring teams that could have made the NCAA Tournament but had their bubble's bursted.
That got me thinking...
What if we created a fake tournament featuring the best 32 teams that didn’t make the big dance, gave them seeds, and made up our own rules about how this tournament would be played?
So I slid in Bob's DMs and we started talking...
Then we came up with this:
We are excited to introduce, for the first time ever, the "Bursted Bubble Invitational"
Bob and I talked and debated about what teams deserved what seeds. Using Massey Ratings and Regional Ranking Data with the addition of the eye test and our own opinions, we came up with the above bracket.
Here are the tournament details...
-The Invitational will take place at one site: Salem, Virginia. The former home of the D3 Final Four
-In order to win the championship, you have to win 5 games in 5 days.
-This invitational will use "The Elam Ending" just like TBT and this year's NBA All-Star Game
-The winner of this tournament will have the opportunity to play the NCAA National Champions for a shot at "the belt."
-This invitational is #ForTheFans we created this for YOU to enjoy.
-Selection Note: No WP/SOS/RRO. Eye test employed. The better you look, the more we like you.
-Fan reception at Mac & Bob's the night before play starts, 7pm
